Forms or things that do not like to fill

It is true that when we see a long form, is the most odechciewa we stay on that side. I think that our motivation is very high and after a successful upload of the completed form we get the expected value (the desired access to our services, a gift in the form of a PDF document - a report, access to the section, VIP, etc.).

But the cruel reality shows that the forms most commonly asked (rather appropriate) for the information that a very small extent related to the communication of this form, and indeed necessary data (from user point of view of course).

Example:
The registration form for a social networking site (so popular in recent times). Required fields: your name, address, login, password, e-mail address, date of birth, interests, website, phone. Missing for me just another request for driver's license number, address, bank account and the size of worn underwear. And yet you have done differently: e-mail, password. How much better would fill those forms.

Interestingly, most often with this type of data required (there are of course mandatory to fill), very rarely are clauses providing for the protection of personal data that would inform whoever is responsible for storing data, for what purpose would be to use them and who can be reported in to amend or delete this information. In the case of Polish sites for registration information in the Inspector General is not what even dream of. It is generally bad.

So book I gave L. Wroblewski ( Web Form Design. Filling in the Blanks ) is probably one of the best position to know what to look for when building forms. Personally, I have not read this yet read (chronic lack of time), but the reviews and comments of my friends (and almost every self-respecting designer, information posted in any area in passing mention of it ;)) I recommend this item to you with full responsibility.
